A Phantom Feeling

You are standing at the supermarket checkout. Sounds are piling up around you. The conveyor belt creates a whirring sound; the cash register beeps in irregular intervals; sometimes a shopping cart pushes against the other – accompanied by conversation fragments of various kinds.

You feel a vibration in your pocket, you reach in and feel some change, a crumpled kleenex and some screw-nuts. At the same time, you remember that you left your smartphone intentionally at home.
